I bought these to use as long underwear for colder days - not for their compression benefits per se, so I was a bit surprised as how snug they were, though they're not at all uncomfortable - as a matter of fact, the compression seems to have unexpectedly positive benefits for my right hip which has been sore of late. Anyway, as far as their benefits as long underwear, they do provide a good extra layer of buffer against the cold without being uncomfortable indoors, and one benefit of smoothly textured stretch leggings vs. more traditional woven or knit long underwear (besides the lighter weight) is that there is less friction and resistance against the pants that I'm wearing (usually dress slacks), so they don't cause pulling and stretching in the knees of my pants when I sit or squat, and therefore cause less wear on my dress pants. Also, remarkably well priced! The one caveat is that I wore the first pair before throwing them in the wash (I know, I know...), and when I removed my white dress shirt at the end of the day, I saw that the dyes from the garment had stained my shirt-tail where I had them tucked into my pants and in contact with the leggings (I bought them in black). The dye washed out of my shirt in the laundry, and once I had washed the leggings, any excess dye seemed to have washed out and didn't stain my white shirts again.
